Professor Ron Grunstein

Professor Ron Grunstein AM is a leading expert in sleep medicine with more than 30 years of experience as a consultant physician in sleep disorders. He holds an Investigator Leadership Level 3 award from the NHMRC, the highest research appointment in Australia.

- Current roles: Senior Staff Specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital; Professor of Sleep Medicine at the University of Sydney; Head of the Sleep and Circadian Research Group at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research.
- Leadership: Former President of the World Sleep Federation (2007‑2011) and Chief Investigator A on three successive NHMRC Centres of Research Excellence (2004‑2018).
- Honours and awards: Australasian Sleep Association Distinguished Achievement Award (2010), Kleitman Award from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (2011), Royal Prince Alfred Foundation Medal (2012), Distinguished Professor Award, Sydney Medical School (2014), Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (2021), Fellow of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (2022), and Member of the Order of Australia (2019).
